Research description

Normal brain functions rely on homeostatic neuroexcitation which refers to the electrical activation of neurons in the brain. Neuroexcitation is dynamically modulated by the relative strength of excitation and inhibition of neuronal intrinsic electrical activation and synaptic activation. Besides, more and more studies suggest that glia cells are not only the passive supporters of neurons, but also active players of neuroexcitation, neurocircuit and neuronal functions, Dysregulation of neuroexcitation leads to Disorder of consciousness, epilepsy, depression, autism, schizophrenia and other neurological or psychiatric disorders. The research in my laboratory focuses on cellular and molecular aspects of neuroexcitation in some neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders.
