Jin Zhang, Professor

Personal Statement

I obtained my PhD degree in biophysics from Nagoya University in Japan in 2012. After my PhD, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher from 2012 to 2014 at Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Subsequently, I served as a postdoctoral fellow in the Harvard Medical School from 2014 to 2017. Since July 2017, I have been working as the professor at the School of Basic Medical Sciences of Nanchang University.

Our lab is devoted to the study of structure and drug discovery and development of membrane proteins related to human diseases. With a focus on neuropsychiatric diseases, cardiovascular and tumor, which pose serious threats to the health and well-being of the Chinese people, drug developments for anti-depression, the prevention of stroke and anti-tumor are being conducted on the basis of three-dimensional structures of ion channels and G-protein coupled receptors. Our work has been featured in peer-reviewed journals such as Nature (2 articles), PNAS (2 articles), Science Advances, Nature Communications, Science Bulletin, JBC, JMB and JVI.
